Squish measurment Print E-mail

Gas Gas provide different thickness base gasket to enable the rider to fine tune the engine power delivery according to their preference and quality of fuel used. Generally speaking the smaller or tighter the squish the snappier the power delivery will be in the mid range. You shouldn't go below 1.1mm without talking to an engine builder, this is near minimum and might cause pinging. We have had different results with a variety of squish sizes. For smooth power delivery with normal unleaded fuel 1.6mm - 1.8mm seems good. Keep in mind that different base gasket thickness also raises and lowers the ports which also changes power delivery.

Remove stator cover a slowly rotate engine approx 30 degree by hand, up to TDC and back down to start point. You only need to compressor solder once, don't go through a complete stroke the solder may get caught in the ports.
