As with all bike the grips should be glued and lock wire used. The lock wire helps to keep water out. 

On the Gas Gas (KTM 2 t owners need to do this) we lock wire the throttle cable to the throttle housing to prevent the cable from being pull on if a stick or the like gets caught under the cable. We also seal both ends of the boot to keep water out of the cable.
