For 2009 Gas Gas have changed the name of the FSR to EC to (Enduro Cross) to bring it in line with the two stroke models. For 2008 Gas Gas released a new battery-less fuel injection (see 2008 Model for full details) for the 2009 EC 450 Gas Gas have a mapping modification that will help deliver better throttle response, improved hot and cold starting and give smoother low rpm running. The EC450F cylinder head has had the magic touch of the R & D department that will see a new combustion chamber design an increase in squish volume and an increase in air flow that will give an 8% power hike. A new head gasket has been developed that is now made of Laminar with a stainless steel internal layer for an increased resistance to high temperature as well as a reinforced cylinder to cope with the extra power. Additional fly wheel inertia has also been added to the flywheel to improve low speed traction. A completely new Sachs front fork has been developed in conjunction with Gas Gas R&D that will see the new 48mm forks fitted with external adjustments for compression, rebound and spring preload. Fitted with .45kg springs the legs will be coated with TiNolux on the forks to greatly reduce any friction in their action. Rear suspension is taken care of by a completely new Sachs rear shock with an increase in shaft size to 18mm, a new 25mm twin seal piston, new compression circuit, 4.5kg spring and a larger shock body. New 21mm off-set fork clamps that will reduce wheelbase and improve high speed stability have also been introduced for 2009. Both radiators have been moved back for extra protection and to increase turning angle at full lock. Revised rear disc and caliper have also been modified for improved performance and feel.
