For 2008 Gas Gas have added the FSR 515 to their range of Enduro bike. Gas Gas was the first manufacture offer fuel injection as standard equipment on Enduro bikes. The first fuel injected bike was released in 2002. Since then there has been major up grades to the Magneti  Marelli  injection system. For a full run down on how the system works see the fuel injection page. In reality the technical details of how it works doesn't matter what does matter is how it works on the bike. You only need one word Awesome. The power delivery is electric motor like smooth. Throttle response is amazing. If you are negotiating you way through a tricky rock section or flat out on an open section there is always loads of smooth traction friendly power on tap any time.

Gas Gas are also the only manufacturer to offer a slipper clutch as standard on an Enduro bike. Not to be confused with a Auto clutch like a "Rekluse", the slipper clutch simply slips a little when the throttle is turned off. The bike still engine brakes just not as much as a traditional 4 stroke. This enables a more controlled ride especially when conditions are slippery or rocky, as the throttle is turned off the rear wheel wont lock up or hop around on rough ground. You also get the bonus of a super light clutch lever pull. The operation of the hydraulic controlled clutch is normal in every other aspect you can feed (slip) the clutch just like any other bike and the lever pull never changes or pulsates.Put this engine in the Gas Gas light feeling nimble chassis and you are truly on the best bike in its class.

Battery-less fuel injection. This system is fully Independent from the lighting system and the  bike can be kick started without the battery. The battery is only required for the electric starting and the lighting system.

18% stiffer and 1 kg lighter frame than its predecessor. The wiring loom is now in two parts with the lighting side independent of the main loom for the engine electrics.  

The engine idle speed is now adjustable with an idle speed screw. 

The cylinder head has been redesigned with a new casting and improved machining techniques. This has allowed it to be lighter with improved heat dissipation due to better coolant flow. 

A new cylinder is stronger with reinforced cylinder walls to guarantee a better cylinder head seal and better cooling capacity. 

The clutch features a new reinforced clutch basket with new cush drive rubbers. 

There are three new gears between the kickstart lever and the crankshaft to make kickstarts easy. 

The camshaft profile is also new, producing more power and further easing the engine start process at the same time.  

A new exhaust system is lighter and improves performance.  

A new digital multi-function Speedo incorporates the low fuel warning light and a new handlebar light switch has been fitted. 

The ECU has been removed from the underside of the fuel tank, which allows an increase in fuel capacity and eases the removal of the tank. 

The return-less fuel system is retained with a single line from the fuel pump to the throttle body which allows quick tank removal with the fast link hose connector. 

The seat is 28% wider and features dual density foam for rider comfort. 

The new front disc caliper is 200 grams lighter and more efficient for  2008. 

The Marzocchi front forks has new settings with improved sensitivity and a more progressive action. 

The rear shock is by Ohlins and features revised settings for improved performance. 

New headlight features halogen globe and improved brake hose routing.   

New stronger and re-styled front guard.

New handlebar mounted hand guards in red.

New graphics have been fitted.
